Ever After High's Enchanted Picnic Cerise Hood Doll

I've wanted a Cerise Hood doll since the first one was released. I didn't get one before now because there are so many dolls I want to get. Unfortunately, I can't afford to get them all.

There are only three dolls in the Enchanted Picnic line. Which is a pity because they're only $12.99 at Target. The other two are Blondie Locks and Raven Queen. I don't like either of those dolls. I really wish there was a $12.99 Cedar Wood (stupid name, BTW) and Ginger Breadhouse (really stupid. It's like they're not even trying).

These dolls are very basic. They don't come with stands, hairbrushes, bracelets or rings. Her ears aren't pierced, either. It would've been nice if they at least came with picnic baskets.

Here is Cerise straight out of the box. She's so basic. Sigh. Her hair is a straggly mess but that's easy to fix. A far cry from the the one released at ComicCon or Legacy Day.

Her hood is attached to her dress. I do not like this. Someday I'll figure out how to remove the hood without destroying her pretty dress.

Here's a better look at her basic, bland bag and shoes.

Oh, if only I weren't such a Basic Becky. Sigh. What's a girl like me to do?

Her forearms are a slightly different shade than the rest of her body. I guess this Ever After High's budget line of dolls.

I decided that Cerise was in dire need of a makeover. Stat! Yes, there is hope.

Now she's as cute as her picture on the back of the box.

I cut off the scraggly hairs, spiced up her outfit, added blush, repainted her lips, gave her fake eyelashes and contoured her face so it wouldn't look so round and her forehead wouldn't look so big (I don't think it worked).

The fingerless gloves are from a Bratzillaz. The belt from a J-Doll. I made the red leggings. The leg warmers borrowed from a Moxie Teenz doll.

Madeline Hatter, Cerise Hood, Dexter Charming and Hunter Huntsman are my favorite EAH dolls.

I pierced her ears. She already had a hole at the top of her ear, for some reason so I just added the jump ring. The earrings are sewing pins.

Those shoes needed serious help. They were downright ugly. Repainted they look so much better.

Had to do something with that mousy looking bag so it matched the outfit.

Now Cerise is ready for a photo shoot.

Supermodel. You better werk!

Sell the garment!

I wanted to make her look as though she were in a wooded area surrounded by some nature which is impossible to find in the city. So this will have to do.

She's walking in the pretend woods.

Here she is in my bag with Alberic. They make a cute couple.

Who knew wolves like to hang out in trees.

Ashlynn is trying to make a phone call. Where's a working cellphone when you need one?

Maddie is wearing a hooded cape I made. She's also holding a basket. Someone is suffering from identity confusion.

I think Madeline's face could use some help. I don't like the shape of her eyebrows at all. She looks kind of blah.

They're still working on that phone call.

Disney Fairies Stylin' Tinkerbell and Periwinkle

I fell in love with the Jakks Pacific Stylin' Tinkerbell and Periwinkle dolls when I saw them in Target and ToysRUs. I got one from each store.

There are four dolls in the Stylin' line but I only found these two. I did see some of the Pirate Fairie dolls. Tink and Peri are my favorites and their outfits are gorgeous so I got these.

So far I've seen two Disney Fairies movies, "Tinkerbell and the Great Fairy Rescue" and "Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure". I was surprised because they're pretty good and I liked them.

These are only $5 more than the basic dolls with very simple clothes and limited articulation. They're about 10 inches tall.

They don't come with stands or brushes. Bummer. These dolls can't stand on their own. But isn't Tinkerbell adorable? What a pretty face. I love her expression. It's makes her look smart and clever. And she is. It's much better than the blank look, starry-eyed look on some dolls.

I think the purple thing around her waist carries her Fairie dust.

Her wings attach to a piece of Velcro on the back of her jacket. I might remove that Velcro. Her skirt is stiff and kind of crunchy.

Ever After High's Maddie can wear Tink's clothes.

They can wear each other's clothes.

Here they are together. I forgot to put Maddie's hands back on. Tinkerbell's hands don't come off.

Maddie has more range in her knees.

Here is Tink with an articulated Bratz Sasha.

The clothes fit Sasha, too.

Tink is wearing Sasha's pants. I've removed the little white puff things from her boots because I didn't like them.

This is Tinkerbell's sister, Periwinkle. This was the only time she looked that good. When I got her out of her box, my cat got a hold of her. Her hair will probably never be the same.

Her dress is gorgeous. And she is so pretty, sweet and innocent looking.

I've already lost her wings. They'll probably show up someday, somewhere I least expect it.

I was going to make the sisters their own bedroom diorama and then I came to my senses. My apartment isn't getting any bigger. I had already made these bunk beds so I let them live there for now.

Gooliope Jellington got a new camera from eBay so she dropped by to take photos of the sisters in their new abode.

The bed is made out of cardboard and paper mâché.

This wasn't enough layers of cardboard because the first level began to collapse when I started putting on the paper mâché. I had to add one more layer of cardboard to the sides, beds and to reinforce the base.

When the paper mâché was completely dried I painted it.

The back I just painted black. Then I covered the whole thing with Modge Podge to seal it. I used anything I had sitting around to decorate it. I didn't buy anything special to use.

There's a ladder connected to the side. Sometimes, Toralei comes over for a visit.

Robecca has spent a night or two when it wasn't being used.

The bed is a little small for Tonner City Girls Billy but perfect for Moxie Teenz Arizona.

Gooliope takes beautiful photos.

I love the Disney Fairies articulated dolls. Maybe someday I'll get the other two in the series if I see them on sale. To me, these dolls are for collecting. A child would probably find it easier to play with and dress the basic dolls with limited articulation. Plus the basic dolls are cheaper.

American Girl Outfits and A Trip to the Beach

I walked into my favorite thrift store one day when it was 50% off day. I found AG outfits at excellent prices so I had to buy them. They were brand new, still wrapped in boxes and looked like they'd never been worn.

Pictured are two of the boxes.

This is Our Generation Sadie wearing the AG Swan Lake Ballet Costume from 2002. It was retired in 2004 and retailed for $30. I paid about $7.

As you can see it's gorgeous. Sadie will enjoy dancing to Swan Lake in it.

The skates even have removable blade covers.

Now Sadie is an Olympian. Here she is wearing the AG Ice Dance Outfit from 2002. Also retired in 2004 and retailed for $24. I paid $5. The outfit doesn't come with tights. Those are the tights from the Swan Lake outfit.

Sadie will enjoy skating in this next winter.

Sadie, Dana and Yuko are wearing AG bathing suits and a wet suit that I got from the thrift store. The bathing suit is much too big on Yuko so I used small binders to pin it in the back.

Sadie and Dana are wearing the set from AG Kailey's Wet Suit and bikini released in 2003 and retired in 2004. It retailed for $22. I paid $5.

I found all of this info on the American Girl Wiki. I couldn't find any info on the pink two piece bathing suit Yuko is wearing. That one came with a pair of sandals not seen in the photo. If anyone has any info on this one, please let me know.

I live in the Ghetto By The Sea.

I took the girls to the beach around 8am. There must have been 100,000 seniors. Almost all of the women over 70 were wearing bikinis. Small, small bikinis. I do not understand this. SMH.

Yuko relaxing on the pier.

Posing on the boardwalk in front of the rides.

We had so much fun at the beach. I was so glad that I found these outfits. Especially the bathing suits because I would've had to make them. I'm a beginner when it comes to sewing. Sometimes I enjoy it, sometimes I don't.

I hope your enjoying the summer as much as my dolls are.
