Tonner City Girls Billy

This is Tonner Toys Beginner Collector line of dolls called City Girls. There are four of them. I got this one at ToyRUs for $15, originally $50. I'm so happy I found this doll for $15 and didn't pay $50. Because it turns out I didn't have to.

Her name is Billy and she's 15 1/2 inches tall. This is the tallest fashion doll that I own. She comes in a tube, which is a nice touch.

She has rooted hair and painted on eyes. She's 24 years old and owns a bakery. I don't know any 24 year olds who own their own businesses. Maybe Billy's a trust fund kid from one of the old monied New York families on Park Ave.

I hate these things. They're sown into the hair and are a complete pain to get off. I've accidentally cut hair off when trying to remove these things.

Her hair is very good quality. I don't have any complaints.

She comes wearing a Tonner Toys tag on her wrist. She's wearing a pair of tights under a long mustard colored shirt. (Not my favorite color.) Those tights will come in handy with other clothes. I'm very happy that she came with a jacket because now I don't have to make one for her. (I'm not very good at it. Sewing is a painful process for me.)

Her handbag is nice. It's big and opens up. It isn't nearly as nice as the bags that came with Moxie Teens.

Her boots are very stylish and match the outfit well. They are hard to get off over the tights.

Her outfit is casual and simple. What really makes it come together are the accessories.

She has the same exact body type and articulation as the Moxie Teenz.

Her legs are very long. They're also made out of a rubbery material making it impossible to stand on her own. Her legs do not stay straight. They even buckle when she's in a doll stand. Bummer. It would've been nice if she could stand on her own.

Her feet are stained from the tights. That doesn't bother me at all, though.

I also picked up this Little Miss Matched Fashion Pack because it was 70% off.

Here's Billy in the reversible dress. It's a little tight but does look good on her.

Here she is in the other outfit from the pack. Very good fit. I was happy to learn that she can share clothes with Moxie Teenz.

Here's Billy with Taeyang Willy Wonka (wearing Ken clothes), a Liv doll and Moxie Teenz Arizona. As you can see, she towers above them all. I am not looking forward to making clothes for her.

She's sitting on a Barbie couch I found at a thrift store and painted. She's much too big for any of my doll furniture and rooms. I won't be making any to accommodate her size, either. That's just more work for me.

She was a great find for only $15. She's a great play fashion doll. I would've been very disappointed with her if I'd paid $50. She does have a few issues but I can overlook them all for $15. I wish Toysrus had the other City Girls.

Unless I find City Girl Fashions on sale, I won't be buying them. I saw them at FAO Schwartz for $20 each. If I only paid $15 for the doll, I'm definitely not going to pay more for the clothes.

Apparently, the summer is when toys can be found for deep discounts here in the states. Maybe I should drop buy FAO Schwartz and see if they have anything on sale. I don't even know if they have sales. I'll have to check it out.

Billy's a nice addition to my collection.

Moxie Teenz Tristan

As I've said before, Moxie Teenz were the best and a much better buy than those pitiful Bratz knockoffs, Moxie Girls. Those things are cheap looking and hideous.

Moxie Teenz were made by MGA Entertainment, whom I'd guess are on the verge of bankruptcy or piss poor management after discontinuing MTZ.

I wanted these dolls because I can't afford Tonner or Wilde Imagination dolls and these are the next best thing, IMHO. Much more affordable.

I don't know anything about each individual doll except their names. I really don't care if one is supposed to be a fashion designer (aren't they all) or photographer or whatever.

This is Tristan. She is 14 inches tall.

Sorry the photos aren't very good. I was in a hurry and I broke my very expensive camera so now I have to use my iPhone.

I got her from eBay, the only place I can find them. And there even becoming scarce there. I wanted Bijou but couldn't find a reasonably priced one in good condition. The price I ended up paying for this doll was completely outrageous.

I really hate eBay. Everything's always too expensive but sometimes I have no choice. And I got burned by a buyer once. They kept the item, said they'd never received it so I had to refund their money. As far as I'm concerned everybody on eBay is shady.

But I really wanted another MT and this doll is beautiful. The box she came in was pretty banged up. I forgot to take a photo of the box.

MTZ don't come with stands. She can stand on her own for a little while but she'll eventually fall over.

She photographs beautifully and her eyes are stunning. They're acrylic. Notice she has eyelashes, a very nice touch.

MTZ outfits are very trendy. I wouldn't call them stylish because they look a bit gaudy to me. They only thing I like is the purse. Much better than ugly, stupid, virtually useless plastic purses most dolls come with that don't open and very realistic.

Totally not crazy about this skirt. The tights are attached to the skirt. I don't like that either because they can't be worn with other outfits.

Here's the outfit from the back.

Closer look at the wig which was looking kind of rough but I still like it anyway. I love the wigs. I own almost all of them. Good quality and they were on clearance at ToysrUs. I was so glad I found them. I never came across any of their accessories or clothes. I got into these dolls after they'd already been discontinued.

She's wearing a t-shirt, denim vest and a scarf.

Nice long wig. I'll probably cut it a little bit.

The boots aren't bad. The legwarmers are a bit blah.

Earrings aren't anything to go into detail about.

A ring that I'll most likely lose. Very nice, trendy bracelets.

In these photos you can see the stains (dirt?) above her left eyebrow. Don't know what these are from.

She can't touch her face with her hands but the articulation is very good. That's another reason I like these dolls.

I used acetone fingernail polish remover to her rid of the stains on her face. Those stains were stubborn. I couldn't remove them completely.

I also took off the dangling part of her earrings. They were kind of ugly.

Arizona and Tristan. Gorgeous! Tristan is wearing a hand made sweater made out of a sock. I learned how to do it from watching a myfroggystuff YouTube tutorial.

In this photo Tristan is wearing a hoody and a pair of jeans I made and a Liv doll wig. I'm trying to learn to sew. I watch YouTube and look at sewing tutorials on deviantart.com. I hand sewed and stitched it with a machine.

She looks beautiful with this wig. The wig also covers the stains.

This doll is stunningly beautiful. All the Moxie Teenz are. Tristan's eyes are what really sets her apart from the other MTZ. Her eyes are lavender or light purple.

MTZ are my second favorite dolls so I'm glad I got another one. Maybe someday I'll add Bijou to my collection.

My Recent Trip to FAO Schwartz

I've lived in this city for a long time but I have never set foot in FAO Schwartz toy store until recently. It's at 59th Street and 5th Ave in New York City right behind the Apple store.

The store was packed because of the holidays. I guess they're big draw is the custom teddy bears because I didn't see anything unique about this store.

I didn't take any photos downstairs, just upstairs because that's where the dolls and dollhouses were.

I didn't buy anything because this place was outrageously expensive. They did carry some of the usual Monster High, Calico Critters and various puzzles and action figures. The place was absolutely packed with what I can only imagine we're tourists who enjoy throwing their money away on overpriced toys they can find cheaper elsewhere.

There's a huge selection of Tonner dolls upstairs. Here's the Tonner James Dean doll. It doesn't look anything like James Dean.

Another Tonner. Forgot who this is but I don't like the doll anyway.

These are the Edward and Bella dolls from the movie Twilight. Completely ridiculous. That doll looks nothing like Edward but the Bella doll does favor Kristin Stewart.

Tonner City Girls dolls. I think the ones with the robes were $50 and dressed they were $60. They all had the same exact face and the black doll is wearing way too much blush.

I do love the articulation on Tonner dolls.

These are the outfits available for the dolls. Each outfit was $19.99.

Tonner Rapunzel doll.

Madame Alexander.

Madame Alexander Doll Factory dolls.

Madame Alexander Disney Princess Dolls.

Here's one up close.

Wizard of Oz Baby Dolls.

Special 30th anniversary Cabbage Patch Kids doll.

Some flying fairies.

Barbie collector dolls.

Vampire Barbie.

They also have a dollhouse and miniatures section.

This dollhouse is $299.99.

This one is $495 for the kit. $650 already assembled.

That'll be the day I pay $6 for an empty, miniature paper bag.

The few antique dolls that they have for sale.

Two rolls of miniature toilet paper costs $10. That is outrageous! Regular people sized toilet paper doesn't cost that much.  Something like this shouldn't cost more than $1, especially because it's made in China for as cheaply as possible.

This is the reason I don't buy miniatures. I'd rather watch My Froggy Stuff on YouTube and learn how to make the stuff myself out of recycled materials. Sometimes I find things I can use in dollar stores. But I will never pay these ridiculous prices.

At least now I can say I've been to FAO Schwartz.
