Crochet and Knit Clothes For Dolls

I haven't been in the mood to write any blog posts for a long time but I have been busy with my dolls. I've made new dioramas and lots of new doll clothes. I've even gotten a few new dolls. I'll put up posts about them at some point.  

My latest obsession is crocheting and knitting doll clothes. If you know how to crochet and/or knit it's lots of fun and much easier and quicker than making clothes for adults or children. I've made plenty of stuff for myself but making clothes for my dolls is fast and economical.

Chelsea and Courtney look so cute in their new dresses. It's a shame Mattel doesn't make any decent clothes for these dolls. 

Lauryce. That sweater was supposed to be for a Barbie or LIV doll but as you can see it came out way too big. I knitted it. 

Ashlynn and Gru are in love. Stuart the Minion approves. 

This dress and matching bag were also knitted. The dress was originally for a Bratz doll but fits Ever After High dolls as well. The pattern can be found here: http://www.stickatillbarbie.se/. Lots of knit patterns for dolls can be found on this website. 

Liv dolls. The blue sweater is knitted from a pattern for mini Christmas ornament sweaters that I found on the net. The other sweater can be found at the link above. I didn't use a pattern for the hat. 

This dress came out a little too big for Sasha so I'm going to put it on another doll. 

This sweater is supposed to be for a Bratz boy doll but I like it better on Nikki. 

I haven't made much for the Monster High dolls. They can wear most of the hats I made.

Tristan and Arizona are wearing a dress and matching top from a pattern I found on 

http://www.ravelry.com/. They were originally for Barbies but they came out too big so now the Moxie Teenz can wear them. 

This is J-Doll Piazza Cavalli. She's wearing a pair of shorts I crocheted. I didn't use a pattern because I couldn't find one on the internet. 

Tinkerbell and Periwinkle are my favorite new dolls. I didn't have patterns to work from for these dresses. 

China Girl desperately needed a new dress. I hate the dress she came with. It's plain and ugly and the material is terrible. I look forward to making more clothes for her.

Our Generation Mini Lana Doll Review

I went to Target over the summer and decided to pick up one of the mini Our Generarion dolls after seeing them on a few other blogs. There were only two left so I'm assuming that these dolls are popular. They cost around $10. That's seems like a lot to me now because I'm getting used to the thrift store prices. 

Here is Mini Lana. Her box was a little beat up. She stands around 6 1/2 inches or 14 cm. 

There's a bunch of dumb crap written on the back of the box. 

Her acrylic eyes are very pretty. I prefer them to painted on eyes that some dolls have. Other than that, her face is plain and simple yet sweet. 

She's a ginger with green eyes. Her clothes don't fit her very well and look a little sloppy but the quality isn't too bad considering the price. 

She's wearing a hot pink trench coat, jeggings (jean leggings), a striped blouse and (rain?) boots. 

The hair quality is nice. I don't know how this doll would hold up with a child playing with it on a regular basis. For me, it's fine because she's going to be on display, mostly. 

The blouse is a very bad fit. I may have to make her a new one when I finally get around to it in the year 2051. So it may never happen. 

The trench coat has Velcro in the front behind the buttons to keep it close. And, of course, the belt which is sewn to the sides of the coat. Don't have to worry about losing it. 

Her blouse fastens with Velcro in the back. Her jeggings are a stretchy material. The boots slip on and off easily. 

That blouse is a hot mess. 

Her arms and legs bend easily. The fabric on her neck comes up quite high making it look like she's wearing a turtle neck. That's how it looks to me anyway. 

This doll is a nice addition to my collection but I most likely won't get another one. I honestly don't know what I'd do with them. I think Lana would look much better in different clothes and a decent pair of shoes and neater hair. She doesn't inspire me to whip out the sewing machine or try to make a pair of shoes.

I'm sure little girls will love playing with these dolls. They don't weigh anything and they're small so they can be taken anywhere. That will come in handy when the kids are out with parents shopping or in a waiting room. 

It is a good value for the price. For now, though, Lana is going to keep my Mini Kenya doll company.

Disney Animator's Collection - Rapunzel

I bought this doll from a thrift store for $1.74.  I almost didn't get her. She was naked and a complete mess. I forgot to take pictures of her before I cleaned her up.

Here's my doll after I cleaned her up and cut her hair. It was completely ratchet. Her head moves up and down and from side to side. Her ears aren't pierced. She doesn't have any jewelry. 

I even tried the boil and soak in Downy fabric softener. 

I made her a dress. I'm learning how to sew. I did this without a pattern. I was surprised it came out this good. 

She is so cute and adorable. I'm so glad I got her so cheap and brought her home. 

The sneakers are keychains. I made the tights from a pair of socks. I found the tutorial on the internet. I'll never buy doll socks or tights or leggings again. I really can't afford it anyway. 

The shoes are too big but they were only $1 a piece so I really don't care. I wouldn't know where to find shows to fit this doll anyway. 

The back of the dress didn't come out so well. Her hair hides the mess so I'm not worried about it. She isn't complaining. ;-)

Rapunzel is wearing a hat I knit and an infants sweater I got from the thrift store. I took the sweater apart, cut it to her size then sewed it back together.

I kept the hood big to accommodate her large head and long hair.

She looks so adorable. Some day I'll make her more clothes. Now that the weather is finally a little warmer and nicer, I don't feel like sewing. I especially don't feel like knitting or crocheting. 

I love these dolls. They have sweet, innocent faces and bodies like toddlers. I looked at the whole collection on the Disney website. I want them all. They're around $20 not including shipping. 

I probably won't be getting another Disney Animator's Collector doll unless I find one at a very good price. I'm not willing to spend much because I want to make clothes for them. 

I really like the large expressive eyes and long hair. I like these dolls better than the 12 inch dolls. 

I hope you liked my little Rapunzel. She was a wonderful find.

Odd Victorian Doll

I found this doll at an odds and ends shop. I bought it because it was only $7 and I really liked the dress. I didn't have high expectations for this doll.

I don't know what kind of doll it is. I'm sure it's made in China. It's hair is glued to its head. 

I think it's porcelain. It looks like the eyelashes have been ripped out. 

There isn't anything about its origins stamped on it anywhere. 

This is the cute little bag that matches the dress and hat. 

I have to admit that I don't know anything about historical dolls or if this is one. Or exactly what era this doll represents. 

This is her hat. It's glued to her hair. 

Her pantaloons are too big. 

Then there's this thing. Yeah, I could Google it to find out what it's called but I don't feel like it. 

This is her stand. The base is made out of wood. 

Here's the hideous monstrosity without her clothes on. Note the cotton ball boobies. They're glued to her chest. It's enough to give someone nightmares. And those arms. Good Lord!

This is BFC, Ink. Yuko wearing the dress. Much better. She's so pretty. The doll stand is perfect for her, too. 

The hat looks nice on her. I had to cut it out of the other dolls hair. 

I will keep this ugly, Victorian doll for now. But I really just like the dress and hat. I almost threw the doll away today because those cotton balls glued to her chest were freaking me out. I didn't want to leave the dress on Yuko so I decided to keep the other doll for now.

Disney Oz China Girl Doll

I'm really late to this party. This doll was released a long time ago. I finally got around to getting it. I wasn't interested in any of the other dolls from this movie, Disney's Oz The Great and Powerful. I didn't like the movie. Maybe my expectations were too high.

I wanted this doll because she's very unique and unusual and I like articulated dolls. I've never read the Wizard of Oz book so I wasn't aware that there was a town in the land of oz where everything is made out of china, the buildings and the people. I may read the story to find out more. I would've liked to have seen more of this character and her town in the movie. That would have been fascinating. 

Here she is in her box. It's a lousy photo. Sorry. 

She is so pretty. She's entirely made out of plastic. She's 14 inches. Her head can tilt from side to side and up and down. She has cracks all over her to resemble china. The cracks aren't as deep as on the rest of her body and for that I'm grateful. She would have ended up looking like the Bride of Chucky. 

The Disney store released a limited edition version that was made out of china. It cost about $250. And, of course, it's going for a lot more than that on eBay. 

My plastic version has painted on shoes. She's articulated. She has a little girl's body and blue painted on panties. She does stand on her own but not very well. This doll is very light. She doesn't weigh very much at all. 

Her dress is made out of stiff, plastic like material that feels like its waterproof. If I had decent sewing skills I'd make her a much nicer dress. She would look so cute with a better dress. 

Her she is from behind. You can see the dress is cheap. 

Her head is hollow. Her hair is molded plastic. 

She can't touch her face but she can touch her hair.

She sits very well but sometimes she tilts back. I don't know why. It's not like her head is heavy. 

This is China Girl with Moxie Teenz Arizona. I think they're discussing hair or something. 

She is so sweet and pretty. I like her because she is so different than other dolls. I'm glad I finally got her. 

I recently found the two mini dolls at the thrift store. I think they were originally 9.99 apiece at www.disneystore.com. They are so cute. I'm happy I found them. I wanted one so bad. Now I have two for about $1 each. Yipppeeee!
