Monster High Getting Ghostly Twyla Review

For the past six months or so I've been crazy busy or crazy exhausted so I haven't updated the blog. And I'm sorry but the next few posts will be brief. That can be a good thing.

Here's Twyla. 

Her bio is on the back of her box. Twyla is supposed to be a ghost so I guess that means she's dead. Her eyes glow in the dark but you can barely see it and it isn't even worth it. 

Her belt is supposed to be her haunting chains. It's made out of plastic, of course. She had a bracelet and a nice headband. I don't know what her bracelet is supposed to be but it's nice.

This is her unique stand. It's supposed to be chains. I  like it because it's different from the usual doll stands. 

Her hair out of the box is a mess but it's very soft.

No earrings. Ugh.

For the price, I had to have her. I really like Monster High dolls because of the creativity and uniqueness.

Ever After High's Madeleine Hatter is also   about 9 1/2 in or 24.13cm.

Twyla is fun and kinda sweet. I'll have a lot of fun putting her in my photos.

Ever After High's Enchanted Picnic Cerise Hood Doll

I've wanted a Cerise Hood doll since the first one was released. I didn't get one before now because there are so many dolls I want to get. Unfortunately, I can't afford to get them all. 

There are only three dolls in the Enchanted Picnic line. Which is a pity because they're only $12.99 at Target. The other two are Blondie Locks and Raven Queen. I don't like either of those dolls. I really wish there was a $12.99 Cedar Wood (stupid name, BTW) and Ginger Breadhouse (really stupid. It's like they're not even trying).

These dolls are very basic. They don't come with stands, hairbrushes, bracelets or rings. Her ears aren't pierced, either. It would've been nice if they at least came with picnic baskets. 

Here is Cerise straight out of the box. She's so basic. Sigh. Her hair is a straggly mess but that's easy to fix. A far cry from the the one released at ComicCon or Legacy Day. 

Her hood is attached to her dress. I do not like this. Someday I'll figure out how to remove the hood without destroying her pretty dress. 

Here's a better look at her basic, bland bag and shoes. 

Oh, if only I weren't such a Basic Becky. Sigh. What's a girl like me to do? 

Her forearms are a slightly different shade than the rest of her body. I guess this Ever After High's budget line of dolls. 

I decided that Cerise was in dire need of a makeover. Stat! Yes, there is hope. 

Now she's as cute as her picture on the back of the box. 

I cut off the scraggly hairs, spiced up her outfit, added blush, repainted her lips, gave her fake eyelashes and contoured her face so it wouldn't look so round and her forehead wouldn't look so big (I don't think it worked).

The fingerless gloves are from a Bratzillaz. The belt from a J-Doll. I made the red leggings. The leg warmers borrowed from a Moxie Teenz doll. 

Madeline Hatter, Cerise Hood, Dexter Charming and Hunter Huntsman are my favorite EAH dolls. 

I pierced her ears. She already had a hole at the top of her ear, for some reason so I just added the jump ring. The earrings are sewing pins. 

Those shoes needed serious help. They were downright ugly. Repainted they look so much better. 

Had to do something with that mousy looking bag so it matched the outfit. 

Now Cerise is ready for a photo shoot. 

Supermodel. You better werk!

Sell the garment!

I wanted to make her look as though she were in a wooded area surrounded by some nature which is impossible to find in the city. So this will have to do. 

She's walking in the pretend woods. 

Here she is in my bag with Alberic. They make a cute couple. 

Who knew wolves like to hang out in trees. 

Ashlynn is trying to make a phone call. Where's a working cellphone when you need one? 

Maddie is wearing a hooded cape I made. She's also holding a basket. Someone is suffering from identity confusion. 

I think Madeline's face could use some help. I don't like the shape of her eyebrows at all. She looks kind of blah. 

They're still working on that phone call.

My Room Dioramas

I made several room dioramas in 1/6 scale for my fashion dolls. It's still a work in progress. I've been working on it for more than six months now. 

I try to make as much as I can from stratch because miniature doll stuff is expensive. There are still a few more rooms I want to add; laundry room, child's room and back porch.

The living room is nowhere near done. I want to change the curtains eventually. 

This is a Barbie kitchen thing I got from a thrift store. I was inspired by a photo on the internet to turn into this:

Food products and leeks made from paper. Again inspired by a photo I saw on the internet. 

Cups and glasses I made for the kitchen.

This is the new fridge. It's still isn't finished. I followed a Korean tutorial on YouTube. It's a lot of work for me because I'm still learning how to do this stuff. The original fridge was kind of pitiful.

The only bedroom so far. I'll add more at some point. I made the bed way too big for the room but that's ok. 

Younger sister is visiting and being a huge pest early in the morning. She woke them up because she's bored and wants someone to talk to. Dexter does not want to get up. 

This is the original sewing room. I turned it into a sewing room/office. 

What an improvement. 

I was going to change the sliding doors but now I'll just leave them. 

The whole thing is still under construction. I've had a lot of fun with this project. I didn't have this much fun when I was a kid.

Our Generation Mini Lana Doll Review

I went to Target over the summer and decided to pick up one of the mini Our Generarion dolls after seeing them on a few other blogs. There were only two left so I'm assuming that these dolls are popular. They cost around $10. That's seems like a lot to me now because I'm getting used to the thrift store prices. 

Here is Mini Lana. Her box was a little beat up. She stands around 6 1/2 inches or 14 cm. 

There's a bunch of dumb crap written on the back of the box. 

Her acrylic eyes are very pretty. I prefer them to painted on eyes that some dolls have. Other than that, her face is plain and simple yet sweet. 

She's a ginger with green eyes. Her clothes don't fit her very well and look a little sloppy but the quality isn't too bad considering the price. 

She's wearing a hot pink trench coat, jeggings (jean leggings), a striped blouse and (rain?) boots. 

The hair quality is nice. I don't know how this doll would hold up with a child playing with it on a regular basis. For me, it's fine because she's going to be on display, mostly. 

The blouse is a very bad fit. I may have to make her a new one when I finally get around to it in the year 2051. So it may never happen. 

The trench coat has Velcro in the front behind the buttons to keep it close. And, of course, the belt which is sewn to the sides of the coat. Don't have to worry about losing it. 

Her blouse fastens with Velcro in the back. Her jeggings are a stretchy material. The boots slip on and off easily. 

That blouse is a hot mess. 

Her arms and legs bend easily. The fabric on her neck comes up quite high making it look like she's wearing a turtle neck. That's how it looks to me anyway. 

This doll is a nice addition to my collection but I most likely won't get another one. I honestly don't know what I'd do with them. I think Lana would look much better in different clothes and a decent pair of shoes and neater hair. She doesn't inspire me to whip out the sewing machine or try to make a pair of shoes.

I'm sure little girls will love playing with these dolls. They don't weigh anything and they're small so they can be taken anywhere. That will come in handy when the kids are out with parents shopping or in a waiting room. 

It is a good value for the price. For now, though, Lana is going to keep my Mini Kenya doll company.
