Lighting For My Third Dollhouse

This post is sort of by request. This will explain the lights I used on the dollhouse.

This is it with the lights turned off. 

I found this in front of my building one day. It's a cardboard dollhouse. I turned it into an 8 room house for my Mini Lalaloopsie dolls. 

It may have looked like this originally. The one I found didn't have the roof on it. 

Here it is lot up. During the holidays last year, I found some LED Christmas lights at the Dollar Store for $6. LED lights are great because they're very bright and they don't get hot so I don't have to worry about starting a fire. 

I got the idea to use these lights somewhere on the internet when I did a search for "lights for dollhouse".  

This photo isn't very good. The lighting is actually very bright. 

It's kind of hard to see here but these are the individual lights poking through holes I made in the dolls house big enough to fit one light each. I out 5 or 6 lights in each room. 

This is a photo of the back of the dollhouse. I think they're are 100 lights on this string of lights. On the bottom right is the control box that I tried to tape to the house but it keeps falling off. These lights have a regular plug that plugs into a wall socket or an extension cord.

I found this to be the cheapest way to light a free dollhouse. Dollhouse lights are very expensive. No way am I paying the prices I've seen on website that sell things for dollhouses. 

I've also bought battery operated LED lights that have 20 lights for a dollar. I used 3 of those on a didn't dollhouse the same way. I think I used a screwdriver to make the holes. The holes aren't neat at all. I'm sure there are better ways to make the holes. I don't know much about making stuff like this and I don't really have any kind of building tools. I was just doing it as cheaply as possible.

Ever After High Ashlynn Ella & Hunter Huntsman

These dolls come in a set. They're a couple. She's a Royal, the daughter of Cinderella. He is the son of Huntsman from Red Riding Hood.

Here's Ashlynn. Her dress is very tight and she can barely move in it. But it is marvelous, fetching and looks like something a royal would wear. She has a nice bracelet, too. Too bad the British royal don't dress like this because those people are BORING and they wear the most unattractive, least fashionable clothes imaginable. 

You can't see Ashlynn's necklace in this photo. Her earrings are little gold shoes. Her headband is some pink leaves or something. 

This is her purse. It's a clock. I think it opens but I couldn't get it open and I didn't want to break it. Her ring is a little bird. Couldn't get a clear shot. Sorry. 

Here she is from the back. Her hair is kind of a mess. She came put of the box like this. Their boxes were harder to open than Monster High boxes. Their joints aren't as good as Monster High, either. 

Cruel shoes. (Nobody's going to get this reference.)

Her crap. Again, not gonna read the story. Don't care. 

She is very pretty. I bought this set because I really wanted Hunter. He is awesome. I would've preferred to get him by himself. I don't have any decent male dolls and I like dolls that are articulated. 

If Ashlynn and Hunter didn't come together I wouldn't want her. 

Here's Hunter. Great clothes. Love the bag he comes with. Hair is kind of weird. Very stiff. Lots of styling product. 

A little bit of glue stuck to his face.

Here's Hunter and Liv doll Jake. He's wearing Cody Simpson clothes. Jake has much better articulation but, boy, is he ugly compared to Hunter. But they're both better than Ken dolls. What is with those thick necks on Ken dolls?HIDEOUS! I don't like the Monster High boy dolls, either.

Here they are with Monster High Frankie Stein Threaderella for comparison. Madeline is 10 inches tall. Don't know who she can share clothes with.  

I might get a few of the Ever After High Legacy dolls when they come out around here. Ever After High are gook looking, attractive, fashionable dolls. They are my Pullip substitutes. Madeline and Hunter are my favorites. If most boy dolls weren't so hideous I'd buy more of them. But now I'm growing bored with having so many girl dolls and just 2 males. So I'm glad I got Hunter...and Maddie.

Ever After High Madeline Hatter by Mattel

 

Picked up Madeline Hatter at ToysRUs. The Ever After High dolls are cheaper at TRU than Target. Although, Target had them first, I'm glad I waited. 

These dolls were being sold by Justice Stores but there isn't a Justice near me. I've never even heard of Justice. So I had to wait and get it late as usual. 

Madeline is my favorite of the Ever After High dolls. To me she stands out and is the most unique. She is the daughter of the Mad Hatter from Wonderland. She's also a Rebel. Ever After High has The Rebels and the Royals. I don't know the difference between the two and I don't care. I don't watch the webisodes on YouTube. 

These dolls have really big heads. They remind me of Pullip dolls. They are a much better price and offer a lot of variety, great clothes and articulation. 

The articulation is better on the Monster High Dolls, though. 

She comes with an adorable little teapot for a purse. She has great accessories. 

She has a cute, little, purple ring that's held to her hand with a rubber band. I'm not taking the band off because I always lose doll rings. 

You can see how adorable her shoes are. 

I really don't like plastic jewelry but hers is attractive enough. 

She has a hat on her headband. She's starting to remind me of all those other Mad Hatter dolls like Liv dolls. I can't think of any others right now. 

Here she is from the back. Her hair was flattened in the back when she came out of the box. She also has a bum knee like she has arthritis. It's very hard to bend one of her legs. 

Her earrings are gold spoons. Very nice. 

This is all the crap she came with. Her story, stand and a brush. I will not be brushing her hair. Those ringlets will turn into an Afro. I probably won't be reading her story, either. I never read those things. They bore me. 

Her she is in all her glory. I like her the best because her outfit is gorgeous, her two tone hair is terrific and she is so pretty.

Thrift Store Dollhouse

I found this dollhouse at Goodwill recently for $4.99. It's definitely a fixer upper and I've never restored a dollhouse or anything else before.

The measurements of the outside of the dollhouse:

23 1/2 in. wide

24 1/2 in. high

11 in. deep

The dimensions of the rooms:

9 in. high

15 1/2 in. wide big rooms 

8 in wide small rooms

This is the roof. The shingles are paper and they're glued and stapled on. 

 I was pleasantly surprised to find this dollhouse and a Barbie camper that was priced at $45.99. I think that is an outrageous price for a used toy. I was at Goodwill not Macy's. I didn't buy the camper.

Between Google, YouTube and the library, I should be able to restore this thing. It will take me a long time because I'll have to learn as I go along. 

I'm not sure what the scale is. Maybe 1/12. I'm sure it's going to look great, though. I need a good home for my Littlest Petshop Blythe dolls. 

This will be a work in progress. I'll blog every step.

Odd Victorian Doll

I found this doll at an odds and ends shop. I bought it because it was only $7 and I really liked the dress. I didn't have high expectations for this doll.

I don't know what kind of doll it is. I'm sure it's made in China. It's hair is glued to its head. 

I think it's porcelain. It looks like the eyelashes have been ripped out. 

There isn't anything about its origins stamped on it anywhere. 

This is the cute little bag that matches the dress and hat. 

I have to admit that I don't know anything about historical dolls or if this is one. Or exactly what era this doll represents. 

This is her hat. It's glued to her hair. 

Her pantaloons are too big. 

Then there's this thing. Yeah, I could Google it to find out what it's called but I don't feel like it. 

This is her stand. The base is made out of wood. 

Here's the hideous monstrosity without her clothes on. Note the cotton ball boobies. They're glued to her chest. It's enough to give someone nightmares. And those arms. Good Lord!

This is BFC, Ink. Yuko wearing the dress. Much better. She's so pretty. The doll stand is perfect for her, too. 

The hat looks nice on her. I had to cut it out of the other dolls hair. 

I will keep this ugly, Victorian doll for now. But I really just like the dress and hat. I almost threw the doll away today because those cotton balls glued to her chest were freaking me out. I didn't want to leave the dress on Yuko so I decided to keep the other doll for now.
