Monster High Inner Monster Scared Silly

I've been neglecting this blog big time. I've been busy with alot of different projects and just haven't been in the mood to keep up the blog. But now everything is piling up and it is about time I started to lighten the load.

A little while ago I picked up a Monster High Inner Monster Scared Silly doll from a local store. I paid absolutely no attention to these dolls when they were at Toysrus. In fact, I hated them and I thought they looked stupid. Since this doll was on sale at a store right across the street from where I live I decided to take another look.

The eyes really caught my attention. They're not painted on like on the rest of the MH dolls. I guess they are acrylic or shine type of plastic.

These are the emotions that can be embedded in her ribcage. I have no idea what they all mean or stand for or even why anyone would want to put anything in a doll's chest in the first place. I've already lost all of them or maybe I threw them away. Not sure. Can't remember.

She can be turned into an octopus monster or a...plant?

She came with very easy to follow instructions along with a checklist of everything that's included in the box.

Here's a diary so a kid can write down how they're feeling. 

Scared Silly out of her box. Her lower legs below the knees are rubbery so she doesn't stand very well and the legs aren't really straight. Luckily, she came with a stand so that took care of that problem.

She has three different eyes in her head. They can be changed by pressing down on her green brain.

Her wig hooks into those two holes on the back of her head.

Her entire body can be taken apart and put back together. 

The orange breastplate can be removed to add different emotions. I think this part is completely pointless but whatever.

She looks like an android like this.

Here she is with Frankie and Cleo. The inset eyes are so much more attractive. I wish all MH dolls had them.

Their bodies are identical.

Cleo tried on the mask. She doesn't look scared silly to me. :-)

The dress and shoes fit Cleo perfectly although she's a little confused. She doesn't know how she's supposed to feel about this. The outfit is very cute and I really like the shoes, too.

This monstrosity is the wig that she came with. Mattel should be ashamed of themselves. I don't know what they thought someone was supposed to do with this thing. I tried to fix it but there was only so much I could do for it. The wig was hopeless. I'm probably going to throw it away.

I'm not too crazy about these eyes, the Crazy Eyes. 

These are ok. 

Here she is trying on different wigs. I made these wigs some time ago when I was trying to learn how to make wigs.

Her sunglasses are cute. 

Here she is with her mask on. It is...interesting.

Now she's turned into an octopus...

with a really cheap and tacky weave. Oh well, a girl can't have it all, I guess.

She's being eaten alive by a Venus Flytrap.

This accessory isn't all that impressive.

I do like most of her accessories as well as the different inset eyes and her outfit. They set her apart from the other MH dolls and make her fun. Taking her apart and putting her back together is fun, too. I'm happy with her because she is different from the other dolls. I like the variety that the Monster High line of dolls has to offer. It keeps me from getting bored with them. 

I felt like a little kid playing around with this doll. I doubt I'll buy any more Inner Monster dolls unless I find them dirt cheap but they do offer a lot of fun.

Monster High Getting Ghostly Twyla Review

For the past six months or so I've been crazy busy or crazy exhausted so I haven't updated the blog. And I'm sorry but the next few posts will be brief. That can be a good thing.

Here's Twyla. 

Her bio is on the back of her box. Twyla is supposed to be a ghost so I guess that means she's dead. Her eyes glow in the dark but you can barely see it and it isn't even worth it. 

Her belt is supposed to be her haunting chains. It's made out of plastic, of course. She had a bracelet and a nice headband. I don't know what her bracelet is supposed to be but it's nice.

This is her unique stand. It's supposed to be chains. I  like it because it's different from the usual doll stands. 

Her hair out of the box is a mess but it's very soft.

No earrings. Ugh.

For the price, I had to have her. I really like Monster High dolls because of the creativity and uniqueness.

Ever After High's Madeleine Hatter is also   about 9 1/2 in or 24.13cm.

Twyla is fun and kinda sweet. I'll have a lot of fun putting her in my photos.

17 Inch Gooliope Jellington and Clawdeen Wolf Dolls by Monster High

I recently acquired both of these dolls from ToysRUs.

I didn't take any photos of Gooliope in her box or with her original dress on. Here's a photo from Mattel.com:

There's entirely too much going on with that dress. It gives me seizures every time I look at it. I don't like any of her accessories, either. Hence, why she isn't wearing them. 

I crocheted this summer dress for her. Hmm, I need to sew her a pair of bloomers. 

My doll's hair was a frightful mess right out of the box. I was able to tame it a little bit. 

She and I had a great time taking photos at the beach. 

Aside, from her crappy hair they were absolutely no flaws on this doll. I can't afford BJDs so I thought these Monster High 17 inch dolls were an affordable alternative. 

I made her a wig. Her hair is underneath there.

I don't have any photos of Clawdeen in her box, either. 

I'm going to paint over her fangs and cut off her ears, eventually. I don't like them. Her skin is a beautiful color. Her eyes are much better than Gooliope's. She just looks more normal to me.

Both dolls have arms that come off and can be popped back in. 

If I knew how to re-paint dolls or paint at all, I'd give her a more upbeat expression. 

I love the color of her hair. Her hair was only a little messy but not as bad as Gooliope's. 

She might need polish to make her claws more colorful. 

Her boots are fantastic. There's a zipper (not real) on the other side. She has kneecaps. Gotta love that. It's so unsightly when a girl does not have proper kneecaps. 

Only thing missing is an ankle joint. But the Monster High and Ever After High boys all have ankle joints so they can wear heels as well as flats. I really don't get that. If you can put them on the boys why can't you put them on the girls?

 

I'd like to make wigs for her. 

I wet her hair with hot water and combed it out. I think it looks better.

She has very long legs. 

It's so much fun to pose these dolls. 

As you can see they're much bigger than the regular sized dolls. 

I made this white skirt for Gooliope but now Clawdeen has inherited it because I don't like her skirt very much. It's too short so when I pose her it reveals everything. I think this white one looks nice on her. 

I'm not going to get the 17 inch Frankie or Draculaura dolls. I already have enough Frankie dolls and I'm not crazy about Draculaura. As a matter of fact, I traded my only Draculaura and one of my Frankies for a Liv doll and Moxie Teenz doll on Instagram. I wish there was a 17 inch Liv doll. Sigh. 

I've seen the 17 inch Ever After High Madeline Hatter doll but I won't be getting her because she has painted on tights. Really, Mattel? Who wants a doll of that size with painted on tights? I would've preferred no tights at all. I would've made my own. 

But I do love these tall dolls and the price can't be beat. So maybe I will get another one. 

I've seen some amazing customizing of these dolls on Flickr and Instagram. It's wonderful how creative doll collectors are. 

I'd recommend these dolls to anyone. They're well-made play dolls which means they're hard for someone as clumsy as me to break them. I really like them.
