Doll Caravan

I've been working on this caravan for my dolls for about a year. I work on it a little at a time. Then put it away until I feel like working on it again. Hopefully, I'll have it done by this summer. I want it to look sort of like a gypsy caravan.

It's made out of cardboard and decorated with things I've found at the thrift, dollar store and Micheal's. Some of the decorations are handmade. It's still very much a work in progress. So far, my Ever After High dolls love it.

I didn't put a complete cover on it to let in more light. I did add a few lights in the back because it was very dark. I'm running out of lights so I try to use them sparingly.

Notice the photo of Hunter Huntsmen in the back on the right.

This is the side.

Here's Ashlynn Ella. She likes to hang out  in the caravan with the girls.

Ella has dropped in on Maddy and Briar Beauty while they are having tea.

The view through the window.

Ella will be staying for awhile.

I added a loft bed for Madeline. It has a rope ladder for now.

In the back on the wall is a portrait of Ella, Hunter and Maddy. There's also a wood burning stove I learned to make from a My Froggy Stuff YouTube tutorial. The Victrola I found at a thrift store. The old-fashioned radio is a printout from a website with miniatures. I made the pillows and the bedding.

I changed the curtains because I really didn't like the other ones. I made these from a skirt I got from the thrift store. It was way too big for me.

This is Ella looking outside the back of the caravan.

The window with the new curtains.

The girls just hanging.

I still have to add wheels and stairs. Don't know when I'm going to get around to doing that.

Anyway, I'll keep taking pictures of all the changes. I'm sure there are going to be lots more to come.

There usually isn't cooking stuff inside gypsy caravans so I might remove that stuff. The sink, maybe. Eh, maybe not. I know I want to make cabinets with doors that open. I don't know why I painted the shelf grey. Such an ugly color. Will have to change that.

I've had a lot of fun, so far, making my gypsy caravan. I always wanted one.

Sewing Room

I made a doll sewing room out of cardboard because I'm learning how to sew and I want my dolls to sew, too.

I uses card stock and various odds and ends that I got from Micheal's, shelf liner and other things I got from the dollar store. The window is a printable from myfroggystuff.blogspot.com. As you can see its winter all year round outside. I learned how to make the ottoman from a myfroggystuff tutorial on YouTube.

I used the ottoman because I was too lazy to make a chair. I hate making chairs, anyway.

The sewing machine was made out of pieces of cardboard covered with white paper.

I made almost everything in the room.

Here are photos of some of my dolls sewing.

Liv doll Hayden wearing a Moxie Teenz wig making a pair of leggings.

Ever After High's Madeline Hatter holding some fabric. I have no idea what she's making.

Honey Swamp likes to sew, too.

I'm having a lot of fun with the sewing room and so are my dolls.

My First Handmade Doll Wig

I did some brief research on the internet to learn how to make my own doll wigs. There are a lot of different methods; some detailed and time consuming (I dismissed those) and a few that looked relatively easy and quick (definitely made note of those).

This what I came up with:

This is Moxie Teenz Arizona wearing the new wig which turned out pretty good.

I bought one bag of hair from a beauty supply store. It's called Ya Man Afro Kinky Braid 100% Kanekalon Fiber,
Red. I used the whole bag.

I crocheted a wig cap with a size C hook and very fine (crochet thread?) black yarn. Then I folded a piece of hair in half and sewed the pieces onto the wig cap very carefully. When I was done I cut it to the desired length. I may cut it so more. I also sewed some of the hair in place in the front to style it a bit and to cover the wig cap which is black. I didn't have red thread. It probably would've looked a bit better with a red wig cap underneath. It wouldn't be so noticeable.

I wanted to buy more wigs for my dolls from eBay but I gave up after awhile because the prices are outrageous.

This is a much cheaper option. It was fun but more importantly it didn't take that much time. I'm definitely going to make more.

This is Bratzillaz Sashabella wearing the wig. She has a Liv body and a Barbie dress. (Boy, that's a lot of hair).

Here's a Liv's Alexis wearing the wig and an outfit I found on a doll at the thrift store. She looks cute.

The wig cap is very soft and slippery so I have a piece of Velcro and two pins sticking in the dolls head to keep it on.

This is a view of the wig from the back and the side. The black that's showing in the 2nd photo is the wig cap.

All in all, I like making my own wigs. And I hate paying too much for everything on eBay.
