Hasbro's Miss Fear Sword of the Dragon Set

To me Miss Fear is a doll. To others she's an action figure.

From Wikipedia:

"Miss Fear (or simply, Fear) was a recurring character in Blackhawk comics (published by Quality Comics, later bought by DC Comics) between 1946 and 1948. Her first appearance in Modern Comics #49 (May, 1946) told her origin as daughter of the slain leader of an obscure nation in central Asia. When Blackhawk and his men arrived to investigate the murder, they found Fear always a half-step ahead on her vendetta, ruthlessly avenging her father with a Tommy gun.

Led by a mysterious man known as Blackhawk, the Blackhawks (or more formally, the Blackhawk Squadron) are a small team of World War II-era ace pilots of varied nationalities, each typically known under a single name, either their given name or their surname. Though the membership roster has undergone changes over the years, the team has been portrayed most consistently as having seven core members."

I stumbled across photos of miss Fear on the Internet and thought she looked awesome. I found her on Amazon for an excellent price. The price was so reasonable it was ridiculous. I can't remember what I paid in shipping.

The box is huge. Those dudes in blue uniforms behind her are the Blackhawks. I have no interest in getting any of them. They go for a small fortune. I'll stick with my 2nd hand GI Joe's from the thrift store.

This is what you see when you open the box. Can you imagine getting a Barbie with three outfits and all of these accessories for only $40? It would never happen. Mattel would make sure it was all cheap and flimsy, anyway. The quality would be crap.

This is the back of the box.

Obviously, this doll is a collectible. I don't think it's appropriate for children at all.

That big sword is very heavy. I couldn't get it to stay in the doll's hand.

The blue eyeshadow is unfortunate but what are you gonna do.

Up close and personal out of the box.

Her clothes are couture which was a big surprise for me. I wasn't expecting much when I ordered her because I've never gotten a well articulated doll, well made accessories and couture doll clothes for such a low price before.

Her clothes are lined and close with snaps.

I couldn't do a thing with those pantyhose. They just kept falling down. I would have preferred her in black fishnets. These shoes were almost impossible to get off. I cut the back strap to make it easier. That helped a lot.

These are her other pair of shoes. She comes with two pairs of heels.

She's wearing GI Joe's sunglasses in this photo.

Much better without those pantyhose.

WARNING: Severe doll nudity ahead.

As far as articulation is concerned she's on par with some BJDs, I think. And Gooliope Jellington from Monster High. It's just as good as GI Joe.

She has kneecaps and elbows. The color of her body parts don't match. It was impossible for me to get her to stand on her own. She doesn't come with a stand.  I left the shoes on because they're hard to get on and off.

Her body parts are all out of proportion.

Her huge man hands come off making it easier to dress and undress her.

She can sort of kneel.

And she can fall over.

She can almost do a side split

She can do this.

She can kneel a little bit.

Miss Fear with a few of my dolls.

Oz's Evanora now has a Barbie Fashionista body. From the neck down she has a spray tan. In the middle is a Liv doll.

Miss Fear's bubble chest and muscular thighs are quite huge so she can't really
share clothes with other dolls. That's a shame because out of all of my dolls her clothes are the best. I was hoping to put them on my Liv and Barbie dolls. Of course, she can't wear their clothes, either.

If I ever see a good price for Mademoiselle Marie, her French counterpart, I'll get her, too. She's more popular so she's double what I paid for Miss Fear right now. I'm not willing to dish out that kind of cash when I'm basically getting the same thing.

I'm so glad I got Miss Fear. She's a wonderful addition to my collection.

  1. She is really pretty, too bad it's hatd to get clothes for her. Maybe Get real girl's would fit, as they are more massive than regular Barbie? Or that new doll, Lamilly?
I love her lips, so sensual :)
